Including Public Realism in Determining New Pricing Scheme for Sanitary Landfill in Malaysia

Financial restriction and excessive demand for solid waste disposal is a press-ing issue in developing countries. Neglecting this problem can worsen environmental damage endanger public health. To address challenge, study investigated the influence of social factors on willingness to pay sanitary landfill Malaysia using choice modelling. Focusing neighbouring districts, Kota Bharu Bachok, where households share crude-dumping landfill, collected data from 624 respondents. The findings revealed common preference among respondents attribute related controlled disease vectors, with ranging RM10.66 RM13.33 per month. Interestingly, despite experiencing adverse effects Bachok still showed it. This could be influenced by lower mean incomes residents who live closer site compared Bharu. these dynamics, implementing cross-subsidies charging higher prices facilitate successful implementation landfill. These results inform other countries highlighting importance considering local context when designing sustainable policies.
